SIC Racing Team can today announce that Finnish rider Niki Tuuli has joined the Moto2 team and will make his debut on board the 600cc Kalex machine in Le Mans this weekend.

The twenty two year-old from Imatra in Finland, will contest the Moto2 Championship in replace of Zulfahmi Khairuddin, who decided to end his Moto2 career in order to concentrate more on his mentor role within the SIC-backed ‘Impian ke MotoGP’ programme.

Niki Tuuli enters the World Championship with an impressive racing background to date.

Riding minimotos from the age of nine, Niki’s progress led him to ride a 600cc bike for the first time in 2012 in the IDM Yamaha R6 Cup, a competition that he would end up winning.
In 2013 he would make the move up to the European SuperStock600 series, where over the course of three seasons he would claim five podiums and one victory, achieving fourth place overall in 2014 as best result.

2016 was also a noteworthy year for the Finn. After putting his sporting career on the backburner with the disappearance of the European SuperStock600 series and having to undertake mandatory military service in Finland, he participated as a wildcard at three of the final four SuperSport World Championship races, taking the podium in all of them. He also won the Finnish Championship that year.

His brilliant appearances in WorldSSP earned him an opportunity to compete as a full time rider for the 2017 season. Under the tutelage of Vesa Kallio (brother of Mika Kallio), Tuuli took two podiums and one pole position during that year, finishing 7th overall.

In 2018 he has participated in five WorldSSP races (he is currently 8th in the overall standings), before receiving the proposal from SIC Racing Team to start an exciting challenge together in the Moto2 World Championship.

“First of all I want say thanks to SIC Racing Team for this opportunity. I’m really excited and looking forward to this upcoming challenge. Moto2 has been one of my dreams and now it’s a reality. I’ve been riding 600cc bike’s since 2012; the first six years with Yamaha and now this season I’ve been riding with Honda. Obviously Moto2 is different to Supersport but the SIC Racing Team is a good team with lots of experience, so with their help I believe I can adapt well to the Moto2 class. I have only a little experience with Kalex. I got a chance to try it at the end of 2016. I’m now anxiously waiting to ride it again. I know Kalex is excellent, so I’m really thrilled to get this ride. Everything will be new for me at Le Mans, the track, the bike and the team, so I need to go step by step. Now it’s not about any pressure, I just want to learn all the new things properly. Of course I want to do the best result I can and perform as well as possible, but at the same time I need to be patient and focus on adapting to the Moto2 class every lap and every session.”

Marques tuli ja vei taasen kisan. Ei vaan voi ymmärtää tuota yleisön buuausta hänelle. Todella mautonta ja täysin turhaa. Tuosta on näyttänyt tulevan jokin helkkarin tapa myöskin.

Ja heti parempi sijoitus kuin Khairuddinilla kauden neljässä ensimmäisessä kisassa vaikka rata, pyörä ja tiimi olivat Nikille täysin uusia.

Marques tuli ja vei taasen kisan. Ei vaan voi ymmärtää tuota yleisön buuausta hänelle. Todella mautonta ja täysin turhaa. Tuosta on näyttänyt tulevan jokin helkkarin tapa myöskin.

Se on vaan tietty osa yleisöstä ja tietty henkilö sen takana. Melkoisen jäätävää toimintaa puolin ja toisin myös korokkeella. Paras voitti, valitettavasti pari kaatunutta avitti kolmospallille tuon valetohtorin.

Ja heti parempi sijoitus kuin Khairuddinilla kauden neljässä ensimmäisessä kisassa vaikka rata, pyörä ja tiimi olivat Nikille täysin uusia.

Anyway, Zarcon hyökkäys ekalla kierroksella Markun kylkeen oli taas hyvän maun tuolla puolen, ja latinkia näytti olevan sen verran, ettei sitä koheltamista katsoessa oikein yllättynyt päälleen päätymisestä.

Dovilta puhdas ajovirhe. Liian kovaa sisään ja leveänä. Pyörä ravisteli ja oli eri mieltä. Dovin nopeudella ei noihin ole varaa. Kaivertaja voi aloittaa jo pytyn työstämisen.

Rossi hienosti kolmas ainakin omaksi ilokseni, vaikkei vauhti varmaan ainakaan Doville olis riittänyt. Zarcon lopputusijoitus tuon koheltamisen seurauksena olis voinut olla podium tai vaikkapa kuu.

Muuten. Lorenzo hyytyi ihan täysin Ducatilla soft + soft renkailla, mutta käsittääkseni Petruccilla oli sama rengastus ja oli toinen .

(edit: jotain juttua jarrutusongelmista kun ei ole tarpeeksi tankista tukea ja väsyy, selittänee?)

Maverick ajelee varjojen mailla. Ensimmäisenä sen pitäis olla sitä yhtä eläkeläistä nopeampi, mutta jostain kiikastaa ja isosti.

Olipas alkua lukuunottamatta aika tylsä kisa MotoGP:ssä. Ja tätä menoo MM-sarja on taputeltu ihan liian aikasin, kun Markku on ainut, joka nuo etusen luistot saa seivattua.

Onhan se nähty ennenkin. Kehitystyö menee eteenpäin ja Michelin voi tuoda testiin vaikka uuden etusen, joka istuukin yhtäkkiä Yamahalle tai Ducatille ja ne saa edun. Sitten Honda yrittää ajaa joko nykyisillä tai saada uuden toimimaan. Toisaalta kun on vain yksi regnastoimittaja niin tuollainen on vähän turhaa kesken kauden.

Ihan aidosta mielenkiinnosta, milloin tällainen on nähty, että kesken kauden tulee uusi rengas joka laittaa voimasuhteet uusiksi? vai tarkoititko, että seuraavalle kaudelle tulee uusirengas tyyppi ja voimasuhteet muuttuvat?

Ei sillä, jos sais Crashlown tasoista kalustoa, niin ois kiva nähdä mies mukana. WSBK:ssa se murtaa kaikki ennätykset tällä kaudella, ja nappaa neljännen perättäisen jos ei loukkaannu tai Dorna asenna möhkön konetta nykyisen tilalle.

Olisi hienoa nähdä Rea Motogp-puolella ja varmaan sitä itseäänkin kiehtoisi kokeilla miten vauhti riittää sillä puolella mutta tuskin se tekee sopparia ellei kalusto ole kilpailukykyistä.
Eli huipputeamiin pitäisi päästä, tuskin lähtee mihinkään pikkutallin ajelemaan ynnämuuta sijoituksista.

There are some big problems for you in Ducati.

Last week after Le Mans, Gigi and Paolo came to my place in Tavullia for dinner.

Each time I look at the replay – and I have looked at it at least 30 times because I have been sent 30 Emails from Germany asking: “Was passiert hier? Why ist Herr George crashing all of our motorcycles like a crazy bratwurst?” and attaching the video for me to watch over and over.

I told you not to go out there on a soft front tyre. I told you the soft front tyre would only last a few laps and then it would be merda.

What did you say to me?

You said: “Eat my fat balls, Gigi! You are not the boss of the Mamba! Only the Mamba understands what is the perfect tyre for every condition! The Mamba knows and Gigi does not know, so Gigi must not speak to the Mamba about such things!”

And what happened? You went very fast and were in front for a few laps. For a few seconds it looked like my life as a leper’s rectum may have been redeemed.

But then of course it wasn’t. Your tyre went off and you started to hold people up. I know you like to think of the races as a parade with you in front, but the other racers don’t think that way.

It’s pointless sending everyone notes saying they are only allowed to pass you when your bike catches fire. Most of them can’t read anyway – they’re motorcycle racers. I think Rossi is the only one who went to school for more than 10 minutes.

The criminal Redding punches everyone who hands him a piece of paper. Poor bastard is waiting to get sacked and lashes out a lot in anger.

At least three of the others, Smith, Abrams and Simeon, are legally blind, and Crutchlow can only see the hallucinations he gets which tell him he’s world champion.

He even hallucinates in the gravel traps he spends most of his races in. It’s amazing.

That piece of paper I shoved under your motorhome door? Do not wipe your arse with it and throw it at Dovisoso, OK? It’s got the names of all the Suzuki executives and their mobile phone numbers. Call them. All of them. Tell them your name is Pierfrancesco Chili and you wish to return to MotoGP racing as Suzuki’s Number One rider. Tell them you’ll pay them. I’ll pass the hat around to cover those costs.

Don’t worry. The Suzuki people will believe anything. Ask Iannone. He told them he was Max Biaggi. They were over the moon.

Toisaalta on myös puheita ettei World Superbike-kuski oikeen MotoGP:ssä pärjää..
