The incident below happened on the fourth lap of the first session of the day. I was riding well within my limits, just feeling things out & warming up, on track for the first time since August. I hadn't really even figured out what gear I was in for each corner yet - I was just cruising, torquing out of the corners, short-shifting, blah blah. I had passed this kid coming onto the front straight the lap before on his outside, then he went back by going into Turn 3, which is a tricky section of the course I was going to work on remembering after I worked out where the rest of the track went. I followed at a safe distance thru the "back section," not really pushing, just riding my bike. On this lap, he took an entirely different line thru 13-14, so I passed him on the inside under power on corner exit. I went all the way down the front straight, brakes, downshift, turned into Turn 1, off the brakes, then WHAM!! I get hit hard from the right side (outside of the upcoming corner) - somebody on a bike had slammed into me and then leaned into me from the outside, then 1/10th of a second later, here he is on the track in front of me, - he had apparently come in so hot on my right, assuming he would outbrake me, then when he realized he wasn't gonna pull it off, hammered his brakes hard enough to lock the front and fall over. you can see he hit me hard enough to knock my inside foot off the peg.
In the next two, he separates from his bike and becomes a speed bump. I'm in survival mode - from years of mountain biking and motocross, when shit starts to go bad, I try to ride it out. For a moment I thought if I could just jump him, then maybe I could ride it out thru the sand.
The next two shots you can see the bike go into a sweet whip after lipping off the stupid kid. Too bad I couldn't hang onto it. Beacause I had already started my turn-in, as soon as the front wheel leaves the ground, shit starts to go south for me & Speedy.
