"The performance of new-generation race-bike replicas with power-to-weight ratios greater than 1 hp/kg makes tyre design especially critical. This is why Bridgestone has introduced the new Battlax BT-015 series: a range with the flexibility to be fine-tuned to each new model emerging from the world’s major motorcycle manufacturers.
This latest Battlax for the OEM (original equipment market) features an underlying technology platform providing the advanced characteristics needed to maximise sensation and safety with the latest 1000 cc full-spec replicas under all conditions. However, for the ultimate in rider-appeal, each front and rear tyre is purpose-developed for a specific machine.
One of the first BT-015 tyre-sets to emerge from production at Bridgestone is that for the 2006MY Honda CBR1000 RR.
The front 120/70ZR17 BT-015 is constructed with one rayon ply and a single belt. Its tread pattern, with a minimum negative ratio, ensures the largest possible contact patch for dry grip – while the groove pattern is optimised for balanced all-round handling.
At the rear, a 190/50ZR17 BT-015 incorporates two nylon plies and a steel Mono Spiral Belt. Here, the tread pattern contributes to excellent traction, combined with dry grip and balanced stiffness.
After homologation in the sizes required by other major Japanese motorcycle manufacturers, BT-015 tyres for the replacement market will progressively become available at European dealerships throughout 2006."
